Install FreeMind In Ubuntu Hardy

1) you need to update/install your java version follow guide here

2) sudo apt-get install freemind

Done 🙂

FreeMind is a premier free mind-mapping software written in Java. The recent development has hopefully turned it into high productivity tool. We are proud that the operation and navigation of FreeMind is faster than that of MindManager because of one-click “fold / unfold” and “follow link” operations.

Unfortunately, even after following all your instructions shown here, incl. updating Java, Freemind is not listed in the Applications menu. Checking with “Synaptic” shows that Freemind has been installed correctly. However, what puzzles me, it doesn’t show up in the “Add/Remove” listing (why?). It seems like an application, which doesn’t have a GUI, i.e. installed but not shown in the desktop. Please let me know how you run it…
